It is pretty common practice to allow reviews before embargo IF the review is over a certain score. Any early reviews for ANYTHING should be viewed in that context. A lot of games start out with good reviews, then the review embargo lifts and the score - metascore or other average - stabilizes to its final value.

Early positive reviews are not necessarily "bought" or otherwise biased, but any time you have scores coming out earlier than the embargo, there's a ...

One thing that sucked with KZ2 was how tacticians could throw a spawn grenade anywhere. It caused every objective based game type to devolve into a clusterf*** of suicide runs that made it impossible to achieve the objectives. It looks like KZ3 has addressed that by designating spawn points that tacticians can unlock instead. Very welcome change.

I don't know if it will change the world with its gaming applications, but if MS is working on a new user interface system based around the concept of Milo - and I would have to think that they are - that could be big.

Nintendo has a 30 year history as a family friendly video game company. For much of that time the name Nintendo was synonymous with video games. I'm not saying that Microsoft can't succeed with Kinect, but they do have an uphill battle with their image.

"But that feeling wears off pretty quickly, and it becomes a pretty cumbersome way to do things," added the man behind EyeToy and PS Move.

Zir0, you take quotes out of context as well as any of the hack video game journalists (not all are hacks, though).

If that's what gets people to buy Kinect, and it does wear off and become cumbersome, then people will just regret the purchase and it will only be a flash-in-the-pan success.

As far as i'm concerned, Kinect fails to be a compelling product, but I am not the target audience. Kinect will probably offer a fun experience for a lot of people. Home fitness will become customizable rather than the one-for-all DVD, and the casual type games can be fun for the family. I'll take Move, but Suzy Soccer-mom will enjoy Kinect.

I used to work retail, and I can say that no matter how the economy is, people still buy their kids Christmas presents. That's one place that people avoid cutting very much if they can help it.

That said, other people below are right. This is a "wish list" survey, not an "intent to buy" survey.

Was that a three barreled shotgun pistol at the end? Nice backup for a sniper.

"Kinect will fail to attract hardcore gamers." It's not MEANT to attract hardcore gamers. Microsoft has done a good job of attracting core gamers to the 360, now they want to grow their market. They - and Sony - would be idiots to ignore the millions of potential customers out there who want casual games.

XBox fans love to say how many copies Halo sells, but that entire series is dwarfed by Wii Fit, Wii Play, Mario Kart Wii, etc. The Wii has seven games that...

It's funny how people on both sides do that. "Well for console A you have the price of the console, the controller, internet access, electricity, food to keep you alive so you can play it, etc. With console B you just buy the controller."

Isn't Panzer Dragoon essentially an on-rails shooter? Forgive my ignorance if I am mistaken, I've never played that series.

I too am curious about the Steel Battalion game. If they can get the interface right, it might be pretty cool. I don't see how they can do it without buttons, but the original game sounded interesting and might have sold more if not for the price that came with that awesome controller.

Edit @Redempteur: I don't see ho...

I kinda just took it for granted that Kinect will sell more than Move, but Pachter recently said that Move is selling better than he thought it would and is "a lock" to sell 3-4M units by the end of the year. Same goal Microsoft has for Kinect. I know a lot of people on here hate Michael Pachter, but he really does know what he's talking about.

I notice you don't say we can thank the quality of the hardware and its games.

just an observation.

The Kinect sensor is selling very well on Amazon.com (U.S. version), but the red Wii, which goes on sale three days later, and the PS3 Move console bundle are both outselling either of the Kinect console bundles. Apparently a new color for the Wii is attracting more new users than Kinect is.

"GameThirst, in a leap of creative interpretation, turned that into the headline 'We’re Best on PS3 Insomniac Boasts'."

A journalist's job is not to use "creative interpretation". A jounalist's job is to report the FACTS. Taking quotes out of context is bad enough, but misquoting is even worse.

If you want to be treated with respect as a journalist, then act like a respectable journalist. You won't see Wolf Blitzer u...

I was serious about that "virtual assistant" idea as you called it (I like that name better) up until the part where i got, uhm, distracted. Microsoft has said that Kinect can provide a more intuitive interface, and they are working an an A.I. system specifically for interacting with people. I just put two and two together. It would be kind of like the librarian from the remake of "The Time Machine".

As far as the monopoly part, i do hope that other com...

and to a degree is already available. There are a couple of board games that use it. Just a matter of time before consoles latch onto it. I actually half expect that to be the big surprise for Nintendo's next console.

I expect that Milo will be the basis of a new user interface using Kinect on PC's. Imagine instead of booting up your computer and seeing your desktop, you are greeted by a virtual secretary that asks you what you want. Maybe you could even customize your "secretary"... Make it female with long legs and a short skirt... a tight ponytail and pair of glasses that say "oh, i'm really naughty when I let my hair down"...
